A Life Success Idea
From Jeff Locker
To Thine Own Self Be True
"The Human mind can excuse, justify, or rationalize any behavior, no matter what."
One of the most important elements necessary for us as human beings to evolve and advance in our lives is to be honest with ourselves. The human mind keeps us under wraps with various tricks and techniques. One of these is the ability to lie to ourselves, to use excuses, justifications and rationalizations. There is an old expression that says "The human mind can excuse, justify or rationalize any behavior, no matter what." A very wise man once said "The three hardest things in life are: Diamonds, Granite and looking at yourself honestly."
Here is a wonderful poem entitled "The Face in the Glass" that offers some valuable coaching on keeping in perspective this concept of being honest with ourselves.
The Face in the Glass
Anonymous
When you get what you want in your struggle for self and the world makes you king (or queen) for a day
Just go a mirror and look at yourself and see what that face has to say
For it isn't your father, or mother, or spouse whose judgment upon you must pass
The person whose verdict counts most in your life is the one staring back from the glass
Some people might think you're a straight shooting chum and call you a great gal or guy
But the face in the glass says you're only a bum if you can't stare it straight in the eye
That's the one you must please, never mind all the rest
That's the one with you clear to the end, and you know you have passed your most dangerous test
When the face in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world through the pathway of years and get pats on your back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartache and tears if you've cheated the face in the glass
The Theme to all of this is To Thine Own Self Be True
